MacUpdate Desktop 6 runs in 2 'modes': the full Desktop application window mode, and the menu item mode. When you quit with ⌘Q or the Quit MacUpdate Desktop 6 application menu, you will quit out of the main app, but leave the menu bar item running. This is so that MacUpdate Desktop can continue to check for updates periodically and display when you install new apps from macupdate.com.

If you want to quit the app entirely, you will need to quit the menu bar item. To do this, click the MacUpdate Desktop menu item, then click the gear icon and select Quit MacUpdate Desktop.

If you wish to quit both at the same time without going through the menu item, you can use ⌘⌥Q (Command + Option + Q). You do not need to Force Quit to exit out of the menu item.
