MacUpdate editors occasionally receive submissions for updates to apps that mark significant steps forward in development cycles, but are still fundamentally the same product, even if the version numbering has restarted at 1.0 for the new release.

We will always update an existing listing over creating a new listing in this scenario. Maintaining an existing listing offers developers a number of benefits: new downloads continue to count towards existing download figures, version history is completely catalogued, and users with the existing listing on their Watch List will be notified of the new version.
