MacUpdate Desktop follows some rules in order to give you the smoothest possible experience.

Apps on your Mac that are updated through the Mac App Store are deliberately excluded from a MacUpdate Desktop scan.

Apps on your Mac that are updated through Adobe’s application updated are also deliberately excluded from a MacUpdate Desktop scan.

Apps on your Mac that are only available by purchase and have no publicly downloadable update are deliberately excluded from a MacUpdate Desktop scan.

Apps that have installers or installation methods that are incompatible with MacUpdate Desktop are deliberately excluded from a MacUpdate Desktop scan; we are constantly improving MacUpdate Desktop’s update capabilities in order to bridge these gaps.

Of course, a user might have an app installed on her or his computer that MacUpdate doesn’t know about. Let us know what we’re missing or by email and we’ll get it added to our ever-growing database.
